In light of the evolving situation around novel coronavirus (COVID-19), The Riverwood Conservancy has made the decision to cancel our March Break activities, as well as our Discovery events for the remainder of March. This decision was made with the aim of protecting our program participants, and our staff and volunteers, from undue risk of contracting the virus.
We will be working with our presenting partners to reschedule events for later dates where possible. A decision on whether or not to hold our events in April and beyond will be made as the circumstances around COVID-19 continue to unfold.
While we’re disappointed that we have to cancel these popular events, now is the time to take decisive action to contain COVID-19 for the health of our community as a whole. These cancellations reflect the role that we have to play as an organization that engages with the public.
Thank you for understanding.
You can help protect yourself and loved ones from COVID-19 and other illnesses by taking the following precautions as outlined by the Region of Peel:
If you have been asked to self-monitor, please follow the advice of your health care provider.
Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose as much as possible.
Avoid contact with people who are ill and their items.
Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow, not your hands. Wash hands after coughing and sneezing.
Maintain a healthy lifestyle, including a healthy diet, exercise, and enough sleep to enhance your body’s immune system.
Get a flu shot. You are more likely to contract influenza than COVID-19 and being sick lowers your immunity to other germs.
If you need to self-isolate, please follow the advice from your healthcare provider.
