Riverwood Conservation Crews

Conservation Crew programs are now fully booked through June. September and October are currently the best months for new bookings.

Group volunteering in Mississauga that makes a difference for nature

Are you looking for a fun and meaningful way for your business, organization, or community group to give back? Look no further! When you book a group volunteering activity with The Riverwood Conservancy, you'll help make Mississauga greener, and make a positive impact on the wider environment.

As a Riverwood Conservation Crew, your team will support the preservation of Riverwood by actively participating in conservation activities: planting native wildflowers, removing invasive species, or maintaining our trail network. Your work will help protect 150 acres of natural space in the heart of Canada’s sixth largest city, ensuring healthy habitats for wildlife throughout this urban sanctuary.

Your Conservation Crew experience includes:

  • A guided, outdoor natural areas stewardship event, specifically prepared for your team;
  • Safety training for all tools and activities;
  • Access to all required tools for your event, including shovels, gloves, and other safety equipment;
  • A team photo to display in your office so you can celebrate your community impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Riverwood?

You can find us at 4300 Riverwood Park Lane in Mississauga. We're a short drive away from Square One, and just west of the Erindale GO Station. [Map]

I thought we were volunteering. Why is there a minimum fee?

The Riverwood Conservancy is a registered charity, and we rely on contributions from the community to support our conservation activities and environmental education programs. Your fee helps cover the costs of our conservation program – including plant materials, supplies and equipment, and conservation staff. We're confident that you'll feel great about your investment in Riverwood!

Are all conservation activities outside?

Yes. To keep our 150 acres of meadows, ponds, and forest healthy, we'll need you and your team outside. We think you'll enjoy Riverwood more that way too!

But what if it's raining when it’s time for our shift?

Our Conservation Crew program runs rain or shine!  If it is raining, please come equipped with weather-appropriate clothing.

We do occasionally cancel/reschedule conservation activities if there are safety concerns (e.g. thunderstorms, high winds, flooding). In this case, we'll work with you to reschedule your shift.

Are there washrooms on site?

You bet! Sometimes nature calls when you're working in nature, so public washrooms are maintained and available on site.

Is there a maximum number of participants?

We'll work with you to best accommodate your group whatever size it may be, but groups of over 25 participants may come at additional cost.

Can my team bring plastic water bottles?

We're mindful of sustainably, and our work protects the environment that we call home. We strongly encourage you and your team to bring reusable water bottles, and limit single-use plastics and waste wherever possible. Thanks for doing your part!

What if our group needs to cancel?

If you wish to cancel your group’s booking, a fee of 25% of your total fee will be in effect if you cancel less than 10 business days before your scheduled activity.
