Unique programming for each P.A. Day Camp

Our experienced nature educators have designed each of our P.A. Day Camps with unique programming so kids can learn something new each time they come to a day camp!

Friday, October 10, 2025 – Fantastic Fall

Come to Riverwood to spend a day taking in all that fall has to offer. Experience fall colours at their peak as you explore the trails with us. Look to the skies, forests and rivers as we search for animals in their fall migration. Learn how mammals and birds prepare themselves for winter with food caches, extra fur, and cozy habitat building. Find the perfect fall leaf and take it home as a memory of your day with us.

Friday, November, 28, 2025 – Feathered Friends

This day is for the birds! Learn how to use binoculars to look for feathered friends in nature. Learn the basics of bird language and test it out on our trails. Dissect an owl pellet, play bird bingo, and make a snack you can take home for the birds in your neighbourhood.

Monday, January 19, 2026 – Bushcraft 101

Hone your nature skills with us in this fun day of learning! Play a property-wide game using maps and GPS units, then use your detective skills to track animals and see where they’ve been. Finish the day with a fire-building lesson and relaxing around a campfire we’ve built together, sharing stories from our day in nature.

Friday, February 13, 2026 – For the Love of Nature

Your child will fall in love with nature all over again on this day of Camp Riverwood’s greatest hits. From playing games to connect with each other and the land, to exploring the river valley and visiting Chickadee Hollow, our staff will take your child to our favourite places at Riverwood and create an unforgettable experience.

Friday, May 15, 2026 – Animal Adventures

With a focus on making friends and connection, we will discover all Riverwood has to offer on this day of nature fun. Come face-to-face with creatures that call Riverwood home. Explore the forest floor for insects, spiders, and salamanders. Listen for birdsong in the trees and look for frog eggs in the pond. From wood duck nests to squirrel dreys, find out how (and where) animals live at Riverwood.

Weather considerations

In the event of inclement weather, activities will take place inside Chappell House. The camp’s schedule is adjusted for the needs of the group and weather conditions of the day.

What kids should bring

Please ensure your child(ren) come to each day of camp well-prepared for time spent outdoors. Children should be dressed appropriately for the weather (appropriate shoes, sun protection, etc.), and must bring their own nut-free lunch, snacks, reusable water bottle and a pair of indoor shoes.

PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to administer medication to students other than EpiPens in an emergency situation. If your child is prone to anaphylaxis and may need an EpiPen administered in an emergency, we require that you complete and submit an Anaphylaxis Emergency Plan. Please email the completed form to info@theriverwoodconservancy.org or submit it to the camp director when you drop off your child.

Cancellations and refunds

Refunds may only be processed if a registration is cancelled five or more business days before a day camp. Advanced cancellations are subject to administrative fees. No refunds will be given for no-shows.
