Within Riverwood's boundaries
Join TRC's Program Team for our Holiday Bird Count at Riverwood to help monitor and gather data on our local bird species! All experience levels welcome with an easygoing route option available. Participants will join one of three guided groups, each exploring a different route through Riverwood:
Group A – Upper Trails / Terrace: Led by Erin P and Sarah
Group B – Yellow / Red Trails: Led by Erin F
Group C – Red / Culham Trails: Led by Derek
After the count, we’ll come together, enjoy hot chocolate, tea and coffee, and share the number of species and rare finds that each group observed.
This program operates on a donate-what-you-can basis, with your donations supporting the preservation of Riverwood’s bird habitat.
Important Information
Binoculars are available to borrow throughout the event. A bird checklist and map will be provided to all participants. We will meet inside Chappell House, join our pre-determined groups, depart, and then come back together. All ages welcome; children must be supervised. Dress for the weather; this event takes place rain, snow, or shine unless severe weather is forecasted. No dogs permitted; service animals welcome.
Difficulty Rating
Easier option (upper level of Riverwood) available. This route includes flat, multi-use pathways that are more easygoing, compared to the lower trails. Lower levels of Riverwood include more rugged terrain, such as slopes. All trails are subject to weather conditions, including ice and snow. Consider bringing winter boots, crampons/ boot spikes, or a walking stick.

Cancellations and Refunds
If the event is cancelled due to weather, illness, or minimum registrations not reached, we will attempt to reschedule. If you can no longer attend, please consider cancelling in advance to allow others to join by contacting Sarah.
