Enabling Garden programs cover a range of gardening- and nature-based topics and are suitable for participants of all ages and abilities. Plus, we offer tailored programs to suit your group's particular needs.Â
Do you work with a group that can't make it to Riverwood? We can bring nature to you through one of our off-site programs.
See our full list of program options below and book your program today.
Available from April to December
Hands-on outdoor practical garden and nature programs held in a fully accessible learning space with adaptive tools. Activities include seed starting, flower and vegetable planting, garden care, harvest and fall cleanup, birding, pollinator observations, and tree and plant identification.
Available from December to March
Participants explore the upper terrace at Riverwood and hand-feed chickadees, then return to our indoor space at Chappell House to warm up with hot chocolate or tea. As an additional hands-on activity, we will create nature mandalas, adding bird seed to entice our feathered friends to visit!
Available year-round
These small group sessions with our Therapeutic Garden Coordinator are ideal for individuals who could benefit from additional hands-on guidance. We can customize our programs to fit individual needs and interests.
Available year-round
Let us bring the wonders of Riverwood directly to you! Our off-site programs are based on the same principles of therapeutic horticulture utilized at our on-site programs, and are a convenient way to connect with nature for individuals who may not be able to make it to Riverwood.
When a program must be cancelled by TRC or the school/group (E.g., in the case of severe weather, illness, or bus cancellations), TRC and the school/group will attempt to re-schedule. Inclement weather includes, but is not limited to thunderstorms, high winds, flooding and temperature extremes.
Due to the high demand for programs, schools/groups who want to cancel their programs without penalty must request their cancellation in writing to TRC no later than two weeks prior to the scheduled program. The charge for a cancelled program is 50 percent of the booked program fee.
Schools/groups will not be allowed to book or participate in more programs if they have invoices outstanding more than 120 days.
Complete the form below to book your Enabling Garden program. Please note that separate forms must be submitted for each program you wish to book for your group.
After submitting your form, we will contact you at the email address you provided with details on your program. You must reply to that email to confirm your booking. Unconfirmed booking requests will be held for two weeks. After that time, the requested dates will be released. Please note that a pre-program planning call may be required before we can confirm a program booking; we will contact you to arrange a call if necessary.
TRC will send an invoice to your organization after the delivery of your requested program(s).
