It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of one of Riverwood's leading supporters, Kevin Sherwin, at the age of 58.
Kevin was a member of The Riverwood Conservancy’s Board of Directors for over a decade, and served as Chair of the Board of Directors for five years during that time.
Loving and devoted son to his mother, Carol, his brother Darryl (Glenn Stalker), and aunt’s Anita McDonald (Clinton), Winnifred McQueeny (John), Wendy Seta (Louie), uncle Bill Marshall (Heather) and cousins. Predeceased by his father, Wallis Sherwin (2019).
Kevin was born in Edmonton, Alberta. He had a thirst for life and deep faith in God, a passion for music, travel, nature, and the outdoors. He was a dedicated individual and invested his time and energy towards family, friends and colleagues. The past 11 years saw this same dedication and attitude in his commitment to The Riverwood Conservancy, wanting it to continue to flourish as a vital organization to preserve the environment and all that it can offer to the community; a peaceful oasis.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a private celebration of Kevin’s life in the future.
Through a career in marketing and advertising that spanned 30 years, Kevin held roles with a variety of nonprofits, businesses, charities, and agencies in both Canada and the United States. He specialized in integrated, cross channel strategies designed to build customer and donor relationships.
As a child, Kevin explored nature with his outdoorsman grandfather and developed an affinity for natural spaces, plants, and animals.
That affinity was always on show when he visited Riverwood. He was dedicated to preserving and enriching Riverwood as a natural space for everyone in Mississauga to enjoy. All of us at The Riverwood Conservancy will miss his enthusiasm, laughter, and commitment to the community.
We’re grateful for his enormous contributions to Riverwood and TRC, and our thoughts remain with Kevin's family and loved ones during this difficult time.
If you'd like to make a donation to The Riverwood Conservancy in memory of Kevin, you can do so here.

There is really nothing other than time that can ease the loss of you who is so dear. I wish for your family and friends that the sadness that is now in our hearts will be replaced by a strong presence of the love and friendship that was shared in life.

I’m sorry to hear the news of info of your dedicated members suddenly passing away. I absolutely love everything about Riverwood, it was a safe space for me all during the many lockdowns. It gave me purpose, I would just lace up and run to the space and then run the trail, taking time to sit by the water. Please accept my deep gratitude for all the work being done to keep it clean. 💔 May Kevin’s presence and memory be remembered fondly.

I am so very saddened by this news. I had the pleasure of working with Kevin on many initiatives for The Riverwood Conservancy. He was the inspiration behind establishing the TRC Patrons, Legacy Gift Planning, Dogfest, Soiree, Whole Foods fundraising days, Zoomer radio, and countless others. His passion and enthusiasm for all things Riverwood was tireless. Dearest friend Kevin, how fortunate I was to spend time with you and how much we will all miss you. Deepest condolences to your family. Rest In Peace.
