Summer BioBlitz: Turtle Trek and Protecting Nests

August 23 @ 10:00 am 11:30 am

$5 TRC members get in free

Join us to learn about Ontario’s turtle species and their importance in the ecosystems at Riverwood and beyond!

You’ll help us actively support local conservation initiatives in this workshop by creating turtle nest protectors, followed by a guided trail walk and a guest presentation from the Heart Lake Turtle Troopers. Completed nest protectors will be used here at Riverwood or donated to local turtle conservation initiatives.

With the help of community scientists like you, we’re aiming to grow our knowledge of Riverwood’s plants and animals through our Summer BioBlitz! We’ll be using iNaturalist to gather observations from around our natural areas. Please download the free app from Google Play or the App Store, create an account, and join the project before attending this event.

Our thanks to Granite REIT for supporting our 2025 Summer BioBlitz.
