Birding at Lakefront Promenade Park

Enjoy a morning by the lakeshore while observing migratory waterfowl and other birds that spend the colder months along Mississauga’s waterfront. Join us beyond Riverwood’s forests to see what winter will bring to the open water and discover the variety of life that makes the shoreline its seasonal home.

Important Information

Please meet the group in the parking lot between A.E. Crookes Park and the waterfront:

This program is best suited for participants 12 and older.

Please bring your own binoculars as they will not be provided.

The program may run past 10:00 am; if you need to leave by then, please review the trail map before departing from the group.

Dress for the weather. This is a rain or shine event, unless severe weather is in the forecast.

No dogs permitted, service animals welcome.

Difficulty Rating

Easy. This program will include a slow-paced walk on the flat trails at Lakefront Promenade. Depending on conditions, the trails may become icy or snow covered.

Cancellations and Refunds

Due to processing fees, no refunds will be given for cancelled registrations for this event. No refunds will be given for no-shows. If the event is cancelled due to weather, illness, or minimum registrations not reached, we will attempt to reschedule, or a full refund will be issued based on the circumstances of the cancellation.

About the Presenter

Derek Stone is a lifelong naturalist and wildlife enthusiast, who pursued his degree in Environmental Studies and Resource Management at Trent University with a focus on ecology and public policy. Since then, Derek has engaged in multiple positions that focus on monitoring and restoring degraded environments, and enthusiastically engaging the public with nature. As The Riverwood Conservancy’s Program Director, Derek focuses on creating strong connections between nature and people, and embracing those connections to support both our environment and our community.
