Spring Birding at Rattray Marsh

As the signs of spring begin to bloom, so do the songs of our feathered friends. Join us for a morning of birding and learn how to identify a variety of species by their unique mating calls and striking spring plumage. Our birding group welcomes enthusiasts of all experience levels, from beginners to seasoned experts. Come discover the joy of birding with us!

Important Information

This program is suitable for all ages.

Binoculars are available to borrow for the duration of this program. A bird checklist and map will be provided to newcomers to the program.

Dress for the weather. This is a rain or shine event, unless severe weather is in the forecast.

No dogs permitted.

Difficulty Rating

Easy. This program follows the relatively flat and even trails of Jack Darling and Rattray Marsh. Please note, due to limited parking near Rattray Marsh, be prepared for a longer distance to travel in and out of the area.

Cancellations and Refunds

Due to processing fees, no refunds will be given for cancelled registrations for this event. No refunds will be given for no-shows. If the event is cancelled due to weather, illness, or minimum registrations not reached, we will attempt to reschedule, or a full refund will be issued based on the circumstances of the cancellation.

About the Presenters

Taya Kehler combined her passions for horticulture and design while completing her degree in Landscape Architecture at Dalhousie University. Her goal is to enhance gardens with eco-friendly practices and year-round interest to encourage pollinators and welcome visitors to Riverwood.


Stephanie Keeler is a passionate environmental educator with a degree in biology and geography from the University of Guelph. She spent several years immersing herself in the diverse flora and fauna of Algonquin Park’s forests and lakes as a Park Naturalist. Stephanie enjoys birding, camping, and native wildflower gardening. She volunteers her nature knowledge with The Riverwood Conservancy.
