Birds and Bells

December 08 @ 1:00 pm 3:00 pm

$20 TRC members enjoy discounted rates

Don’t let the cold weather discourage you from enjoying nature this winter! Join us for a journey through the chilly forest of Riverwood looking at some of our resident bird species that brave the winter.

Program will begin with a birding walk around Riverwood to learn how to identify our resident bird species. You will then learn how to make a bird suet bell, heart, tree or whatever else your imagination can come up with, for you to take home and attract birds to your backyard or as a great holiday gift!

Hot chocolate, coffee, and tea will be provided.

Important Information

Binoculars will be available to borrow for the duration of the program. A Riverwood Bird Checklist is included for you.

Dress for the weather. This is a rain, snow, or shine event unless severe weather is in the forecast. Consider bringing good winter boots, crampons/boot spikes, or a walking stick dependent on conditions.

No dogs permitted.

A variety of seeds will be used throughout this program which may have come in contact with peanuts and other tree nuts in the factory. Please advise us if you or any of your guests have allergies 3 days prior to the event and we can offer an alternative.

Gelatin will be used as a binding material in the creation of the seed suet bells, this is a common ingredient in suet feeders.

Difficulty Rating

Moderate. This program will involve steep hills, uneven pathways, and greater than one kilometre of travelling. Dependent on conditions, the trails may become icy or snow-covered, we will modify based on safety.

Cancellations and Refunds

Refunds may only be processed if a registration is cancelled five or more business days before event day. Advanced cancellations are subject to administrative fees of $10 if you paid for a $20 registration fee. Due to processing fees, no refunds will be given if you paid for a $15 registration fee. No refunds will be given for no-shows. If the program is cancelled due to weather, illness, or minimum participants not registered, we will attempt to reschedule, or a full refund will be issued based on the circumstances of the cancellation.
