Thanks to the support of Urban Nature Store, you can join us for a free Beginner Birding program to learn the basics of birding and how to begin identifying them by sound, colour, shape, and size. This program is open to all experience levels and ages. We will be pointing out and identifying all birds we see along the way, and creating a list for you to review after.

Important Information

This program is suitable for all ages.

Binoculars are available to borrow for the duration of the program. A bird checklist and map will be provided to newcomers to the program.

Dress for the weather. This is a rain or shine event unless severe weather is in the forecast.

No dogs permitted, service animals welcome.

Difficulty Rating

Moderate. This program may involve steep hills, uneven terrain, and greater than one killometre of traveling.

About the Presenter

Stephanie Keeler is an experienced environmental educator and enthusiast. She completed her degree in Biology and Geography at the University of Guelph, and has spent several years submersing herself in Ontario’s biodiversity in the forests of Algonquin Park. She is now Community Program Coordinator at The Riverwood Conservancy, connecting city communities with urban nature.
