Book an Education Naturally Program

Education Naturally programs are curriculum-geared, hands-on, and experiential to allow elementary students to develop an awareness and appreciation for the outdoors, while relating classroom learning with real world issues and concepts.

Pre-Planning Session

If this will be your first visit to Riverwood, you may be asked to book a pre-planning session with our instructor to discuss the details of the program and to align activities with your classroom instruction, so that you and your students get the best experience possible. Pre- and post-visit planning and additional support materials will be provided at this meeting. For returning teachers, a telephone pre-planning session or email correspondence may be sufficient.

Program Duration

Education Naturally programs are offered on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

– Full Day (4-5 hours)
– Half-day (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.)

Program Capacity

To safeguard our ecosystems, and due to fire regulations, we only allow a maximum of 60 students, and 68 people altogether, at any one time to participate in an Education Naturally program.

In order to get the best experience out of our programs, smaller class sizes work best. There is no limit to the number of times your school may visit. For Kindergarten to Grade Three classes, teacher and at least one other adult must accompany visiting students.

Cancellation Policy

1. When a program must be cancelled by TRC or the school (for example, because of inclement weather* or bus cancellations), TRC and the school will attempt to re-schedule.

* Inclement weather includes, but is not limited to, thunderstorms, high winds, flooding, and temperature extremes.

2. Due to high demand for Education Naturally programs, a cancellation by the school without rescheduling must be confirmed and communicated in writing no later than one (1) month prior to the scheduled program. A cancellation by the Education Naturally Teacher will be confirmed in writing by email. The charge for cancellation is 50 per cent of the booked program fee. If the cancellation is due to the occurrence of a traumatic event at the school, the cancellation charge may be waived at the discretion of TRC.
